# ROOT_ Program Duration Model

|
Phase 6F Step 25 (built on Phase 6E §28) — recalculated from actual authored activities in the
|
|
live database after Phase 6F's curriculum integration (orientation module + the three
|
|
practice-bank intro lessons). Run: `SELECT c.course_id, SUM(a.estimated_duration_minutes) ...
|
|
GROUP BY c.course_id` against the current schema, same method as every prior version of this
|
|
document.
|

ROOT 01's activity/minute count grew by 3 activities / 15 minutes this phase (the new
|
|
`root-01-m00-welcome-to-root` orientation module). ROOT 06/07/10 each grew by 1 activity / 3-4
|
|
minutes (their new practice-bank intro lessons). See `docs/ROOT_V1_CURRICULUM_MANIFEST.md` for
|
|
why.

**ROOT Foundations (01-04) subtotal: 149 activities, 1,497 minutes, 25.0 hours.**
|
|
|
|
## Self-paced vs. instructor-led
|
|
|
|
Unchanged from Phase 6D/6E: the figures above are self-paced estimates (the sum of each
|
|
activity's own `estimated_duration_minutes`). Instructor-led classroom time is still not a
|
|
separate summable database field — every Instructor Notes section documents approximate live-
|
|
facilitation timing in prose. A future phase could add a distinct
|
|
`estimated_duration_minutes_instructor_led` column if precise classroom scheduling becomes a
|
|
real, measured need. See `docs/ROOT_V1_INSTRUCTOR_LED_PILOT.md` for the cohort packaging this
|
|
duration model supports.
|
|
|
|
## What this is NOT
|
|
|
|
Not a marketing duration, not a promise, not a certification-hours figure.
|
|
`estimated_duration_minutes` values were authored as honest guesses (see
|
|
`docs/COURSE_AUTHORING_STANDARD.md` §4) — this total will get more accurate as real completion-
|
|
time data accumulates from actual students, not before.
|
|
|
|
## Program completeness — ROOT_ V1 vs. the full authored program
|
|
|
|
ROOT_ V1 (`docs/ROOT_V1_CURRICULUM_MANIFEST.md`) is 64.2 of the program's 68.3 authored hours —
|
|
everything except ROOT 08, deliberately excluded as non-Capstone-gating and not yet authored to
|
|
V1 standard. ROOT 11's remaining six modules were never counted in either total (they don't
|
|
exist yet, unlike ROOT 08's PARTIAL-but-real content) — see `docs/ROOT_CURRICULUM_COVERAGE_
|
|
MATRIX.md` for the honest READY/PARTIAL/PLANNED breakdown across the entire program.
